Real Food

Here's a question for you to ask yourself -- How much real food do you eat every day? By real food, I mean relatively, unprocessed, natural food.

I hate to admit this, but when I go food shopping, I peek in other people's carts. And while I try not to judge, I can't help but cringe when I see a cart filled with junk food, pre-made dinners, artificial soda, and so on.

I try to shop the perimeter of the grocery store -- produce, dairy, fruit, eggs, and so on. Its the inner aisles that have twinkies, hamburger helper, and boxed crackers that contain so many artificial ingredients they hardly qualify as food.

Besides the health benefits of eating real food, it will also likely ease your grocery bill. Yes, real food can be expensive, but its usually cheaper than processed boxed goods. Try cutting out the processed food on your next shopping  trip and compare the bills.

Granted, we all cheat once in a while and give in to our cravings for processed cookies or a diet Coke. (And for these weak moments, we have Nutrilite, XS, and Trim Advantage as healthier alternatives) But to the degree we can limit these processed items and eat real food, is to the degree we'll be that much healthier and spend just that much less at the grocery store.

Your thoughts?

When Im really on a meal plan and trying to be healthy, I eat 3 meals of all clean foods ie: chicken, salads, eggs, veges and 3 protein drinks with XS protein powder. We used to be told to eat 3 square meals a day. Now we are taught by fitness professionals to eat 6+ small meals a day to keep the metabolism burning. (I'm all for eating more!) The XS protein powder and a magic bullet works great for this plan. Of corurse I have to have a couple XS Energy drinks everyday- for the Vit.B.  LOVE IT!

Beautiful article, the corporation should take the smart menu and just take it to the next level as a coreline product. We all need that kind of food and are so busy that we would absolutely LOVE to have complete/healthy/tasty whole food meals on the go. Like the kind you can prepare in your car. As cool as perfect water is, something that truly kills fast food is ideal (honestly, the meal bars don't fill me up & I'm pretty healthy, though the snack bars/drinks are the best!)

My wife just admitted to me that before we were married, her meal of choice was a certain tv dinner marketed in a green box with a name that starts with *healthy.*

Why she choose to hide this disturbing fact from me for two years I don't know!:)

Now I'm the primary cook. Everything is as fresh as I can get it. I don't mind paying a little extra for good food, and I have very discretionary tastes.

The other day she came home and remarked "Boy Taco Bell has really lost their food quality in the last few years."

Then she all of a sudden realized that Taco Bell hadn't changed a bit but rather her opinion of good food had changed after living with me for two years!

As far as the Smart Menu boxed meals, I can't stand them. They are way to processed for me. I can see someone thinking they are a step up from fast food(which they are) but they are a far step down from someone who eats fresh all the time. If I need something quick, it's always a MRB or one of the new energy bars washed down with an ice cold XS! Krakoosh!

This Post is So true...I am a Certified Trainer, and have competed in many Fitness competitions! I have trained and talked to so many people who shop for all the wrong food, and that is why we have an obesity problem in the United States..... The boxed foods, or bag of chips are easier to prepare/grab when your on the GO!!!! And Americans are more stressed for time/money in todays economy, they need convenience... Yes! Natural, whole Foods are the BEST!! But if you are in a hurry, Reach for XS Sports Nutrition lines or Nutrilite Products! Products such as; Protein bars/drinks, Meal replacement Bars/Drinks, Energy Bars, and Simply Nutrilite Bars/drinks are a GREAT supplement when you do not have time to cook a homemade Meal! These products have Great Nutritional Value and are the Best Option for On the Go!!! I LOVE THEM!!!

I agree with the drive of our culture's eating habit and hope more Americans are able to adopt "Clean Eating" as an everyday way of life.  I think the more products we can promote from our business that are healthy and can do as a substitute for those busy times when we just didn't have time to prepare that lunch or healthy snacks from home.  I would personally like to see more in the protein supplement line--more bars/shakes.  I only hope we can help cultivate the minds of our younger generations to educate them so they don't make the same mistakes we did.  No one ever taught me what metabolism was when I was growing up and I didn't know the difference between protein and carbohydrates until I was 27 (and that was only because my husband got diagnosed with diabetes).  Had I understood what this stuff was and how it worked, I might have made different choices when I was younger that would have prevented me from carrying 20-30 extra pounds around which I have gained and lost (and gained and lost) over the last 20 years.  Life is too short to not take better care of yourself--I'm just glad I realized this while I am still young enough to do something about it!  Have a great day everyone!

As I type this, I am noshing on a Nutrilite Vanilla Pretzel Energy Bar, to fill that gap before dinnertime.

Also, I choose XS and Nutrlite and Trim products, not in weak moments, but in "no time" moments.

I think everyone wants to eat "real" food. It's just the time element that so many people are lacking--particularly families.

Now that we have kids, I cook a heck of a lot more than I used to. And to do it right, I spend so much time in the kitchen--prepping, cooking, and cleaning up--time that I'd rather be spending with my husband and kids!

Then there's planning a menu and going grocery shopping.

All that to say that I have a picture of a personal chef on my dream board. :)
