- Halloween Food?
-
Many people are surprised to find out that Halloween is the second largest commercial holiday in the United States. Only Christmas is larger in terms of retail sales. This explains why we see more and more Halloween decorations and people going all out doing up their homes for the holiday -- the money isn't being spent all on candy.
I also noticed that many magazines feature Halloween food. Most of it is dessert sort of stuff -- bat shaped cookies, pumpkin muffins, etc. Martha Stewart's Living magazine offers a Halloween Holiday special edition filled with cute, tasty ideas for such treats.
Do you decorate for Halloween? Do you cook anything special? Let me know.
Halloween isn't just for the kids. This year I am hosting two small get togethers with friends. Everyone has been told to bring a "spooky-themed" appetizer to share. I have one friend who is making "Unholy Guacamole". I will be serving Pumpkin Bisque with Shrimp. It isn't really spooky, but it will ensure there will be real food available in case everyone brings all sweet things. I don't want to lapse into a sugar coma eating too many white chocolate ghost cookies.
